A complete AI mock checkride is more than a question generator
check-ride.ai is a browser-based, voice-native FAA mock oral simulator. A session is configured for the candidate's rating, category, aircraft class, aircraft, airport context, first-time or retake status, examiner style, and required ACS-code coverage. The examiner evaluates individual ACS elements during the conversation and saves the transcript and debrief.

How the ACS plan of action is formed
- The selected rating maps to the corresponding parsed FAA ACS document.
- Content is filtered for category, aircraft class, rating, aircraft, endorsement, applicability, and whether it can be evaluated in an oral session.
- Where an ACS area includes evaluator task-selection instructions, structured rules apply the required tasks and choice groups.
- Candidate-selected ACS codes are resolved against the source document and added to the session as required direct coverage.
- The examiner receives the exact open-item roster as the oral progresses and stores each assessment against an exact code.
This design aims to resemble a DPE-style plan of action. It does not equate realism with asking every possible ACS item in every session.
Supported ratings and aircraft categories
- Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument Rating, and Flight Instructor: supported across Airplane, Rotorcraft, and Powered Lift, with the compatible classes exposed by the product.
- Airline Transport Pilot: currently limited to Airplane Single Engine Land in production configuration.
- Flight Instructor Instrument: currently limited to Powered Lift in production configuration.
The product should be configured only for a category, class, and rating combination it offers. No page in this resource set claims universal ATP or CFII coverage.
What happens after an answer
The examiner can mark an item satisfactory when the candidate meets the standard independently, marginal when the answer reveals partial understanding or needs meaningful correction, or unsatisfactory when the candidate cannot demonstrate the required knowledge. The recorded justification remains available in the session debrief. A skipped or incomplete item remains distinct from a graded outcome.

What is an AI mock checkride?
It is interactive practice for the oral portion of an FAA practical test. In check-ride.ai, a candidate speaks with an AI examiner that follows a configured ACS scope, asks follow-up questions, records outcomes against individual items, and produces a saved debrief.
Is it the same as an official checkride?
No. Only an authorized FAA representative or Designated Pilot Examiner can conduct an official practical test. The product is a study aid and does not replace an instructor or endorsement.
Can I ask to cover specific knowledge-test codes?
Yes. The setup accepts ACS codes to cover. Valid codes are added to the selected scope as required coverage so they are directly probed rather than satisfied through related-topic credit.
Do I have to finish in one sitting?
No. Paid sessions can be saved and exited, then resumed later. Resuming the same session preserves progress and does not consume another credit.
